5 side effects of tea you must keep in mind before going for that third cup of tea for the day.


1.) Dehydration
Too many cups of tea a day can leave you dehydrated. Dr. Simran Saini, Nutrionist at Fortis Hospital in New Delhi, explains, "Excess ea consumption means excess consumption of caffeine. This can reduce the absorption abilities of your tubules, which can leave you dehydrated. I wouldn't recommend drinking more than three cups a day in any case.
2.) Sleep disorder and diuretic effect
Caffeine in tea can lead to a mild diuretic effect if taken excessively. It can also cause sleep disorders.
3.) Constipation
Theophylline a chemical in the tea can lead to a dehydrating effect during digestion, causing constipation. Many believe that taking tea in the morning helps us to have a clear bowel movement, while drinking excess amounts of tea can cause constipation.
4.) Increases The Risk Of Prostate Cancer
This is a serious side effect of drinking tea. It has been proven that people who drank more than 6-7 cups of tea in a day, are at a 50% higher risk of getting prostate cancer, than those who drink less or no tea. However, other factors like age, stress, diet etc. also contribute to such a condition.
5.) Causes Cardiovascular Problems
People suffering from cardiovascular disorders should avoid drinking excess tea, as the caffeine in it is not fit for the proper functioning of cardiovascular system and hence, can pose a serious health issue. Those with a family history of cardiovascular problems should especially be cautious about this side effect of tea.
